Novel System-Level Simulators to Develop Virtual Prototype of Complex DC Fast Charging System Design

Duration: 60 minutes

Language: English

Attendance: Online

Event Description

As DC fast charger (DCFC) demands are rapidly increasing, system-level simulations of such complex power electronic applications are going to be invaluable for virtual prototyping. Using a simulation tool that delivers first time-right design results is critical to shorten time to market while achieving maximum system performance. We will demonstrate a state-of-art accurate simulation flow that deploys the novel Elite Power Simulator and the industry first Self-Service PLECS Model Generator with our EliteSiC module based 25kW fast DC charger reference design. In this webinar, we will cover the following topics:

Introduce you to advantages of the simulation tools through simulation of an AC-DC active front end (or PFC) 3-phase line 6-pack boost stage and a DC-DC isolated dual active bridge in which the first generation of the EliteSiC 1200 V 10 mohm power module is deployed.

Analyze the impacts on the charger performances (such as losses, efficiency, junction temperature) on semiconductor process variation using the simulator’s corner model simulation capability.

Compare the simulation results with the measurements obtained from the actual boards to demonstrate accuracy of the simulation tools.

Redo the design and simulations using our latest M3S technology based half bridge EliteSiC power module and show you how efficiency can be improved.

Power Solutions Group Business Marketing Engineer, onsemi

Didier received his Electronics Engineer diploma from the “École Nationale Supérieure d’Électronique et de RadioÉlectricité de Bordeaux,” France, in 1992 and his Ph. D. degree in Power Electronics from the University of Bordeaux in 1997.

In 1996, he joined AEG Power Solutions, formerly Alcatel Converters, as a research engineer for DC-DC and AC-AC converters design in a range of 1 W to 1 kW, mainly for telecom equipment. He managed research activities from 2000 to 2014, publishing more than ten papers on power electronics, and holds one patent. From 2011 to 2013, he worked eighteen months on a 15-kW solar inverter module for a 150-kW cabinet in Dallas, Texas.

He joined Fairchild in August 2014 as a Field Application Engineer supporting the South of France, Spain, and Portugal. In 2016, onsemi acquired Fairchild. In 2018, he moved to a new role inside ON Semiconductor. He is currently a Power Solutions Group Business Marketing Engineer.
